Aerei,
Legendary artist Alighieri Boetti uses his art as political manifesto. Unlike other Arte Povera artists, he traveled to Afghanistan to discover order and disorder. His art produces sharp ideas and remarkable visions.

Boetti at auction: @Sothebys will offer this fantastic set of 4 tapestries “La Forza Del Centro” (The Strenght of the Center) est 60-80,000 GBP, London 13 Oct 2012 Contemporary Art Day Auction.
Each embroidered arazzo is 22 x 24 cm.
The 4 pieces are of amazing beauty, with bright stunning colour combinations, and bear a phrase quite rare to appear on the market.
This lot is very interesting as the 4 works are individual pieces, each with its own certificate from the Archivio Boetti and with 4 different archival number. So this is not a fixed set of 4 (Boetti made fixed sets too), as each piece is an independent work.
Of course the 4 pieces alltogether look just great, so it really looks like a great opportunity, and the pre-sale estimate is very attractive.
Boetti at auction: this very unusual purple Map from 1984 will be offered by Sotheby’s in London, est 800,000-1,000,000 GBP @Sothebys
Image with all the works by Alighiero Boetti to be sold by Christie’s in London on 11 October 2012.
The Italian Sale 2012: 5 works by Boetti will be auctioned by @ChristiesInc in London on October 11 2012. Lot 73 will be Autodisporsi (Auto-arrangement) from 1975, ink on graph paper 100x70 cm, Estimate: 35-45,000 GBP.
Autodisporsi is one of an important early group of works that Alighiero Boetti made in 1974. It comprises of a square of 121 smaller squares drawn on a single sheet of paper. Within each of these squares the artist has filled in a single smaller square inside it in accordance with the positioning of the larger square within the whole structure. As the title of the work, meaning ‘auto-arrangement’ or ‘placing oneself’ suggests, the work as a whole outlines a sequential, self-reflexive and self-determining progression. As was his repeated practice, Boetti has here created a beautiful and intriguing abstract picture, from a simple and elegant permutational system.
‘Decisive… is the fact that structures (systems) have replaced pictures and that pictures obtain their meaning from structures (systems). The goal is to convey structures (systems) by constantly rediscovering them and to create pictures in such a way as to forget the structures within them.’ (Alighiero Boetti, quoted in Alighiero Boetti, exh. cat., Basel, 1978, unpaged)
